NT45 Excavator Track Falling Off Issue and Solutions
#1
Recently, I encountered an issue with my NT45 excavator, particularly with the tracks frequently falling off. This problem has been quite frustrating. To help others who may face similar issues, I've compiled my experience and solutions to address this problem.
Problem Description
While using my NT45 excavator, the tracks repeatedly came off, especially when working on more complex terrains. Track detachment not only affects work efficiency but can also cause damage to the equipment, which makes the job very inconvenient. Initially, I thought it was a quality issue with the tracks themselves, but after some inspection, I realized that the problem might be related to track tension adjustment.
Possible Causes
  1. Incorrect Track Tension: If the track tension is either too loose or too tight, it can cause the track to fall off. When it's too loose, the track shifts excessively during operation and is more likely to derail. If it's too tight, the friction between the track and the axle increases, which can cause excessive wear on the track and lead to detachment.
  2. Ground Conditions: Soft or slippery ground, especially muddy sites, can cause the tracks to become unstable and fall off. The weight and load of the excavator also exacerbate this issue.
  3. Track System Wear: After prolonged use, the rollers and drive wheels in the track system may become worn, preventing the track from maintaining stable tension.
My Solutions
  1. Check and Adjust Track Tension: Following the machine's manual, I adjusted the track tension to ensure it's neither too loose nor too tight. Regularly checking the tension is necessary to maintain track stability.
  2. Clean the Tracks and Drive System: I regularly check for debris such as dirt or stones that could block the rollers and drive wheels. If any debris is found, I clean it immediately.
  3. Replace Worn Parts: I inspected the track rollers, drive wheels, and the track itself for any significant wear. Any damaged parts were replaced promptly. This is an important step in preventing the track from detaching.
  4. Use Professional Lubricants: I started using appropriate lubricants for the track system, which helps reduce friction and maintain the stability of the track system.
Conclusion
By making the above adjustments and checks, the track issue on my NT45 excavator has been significantly mitigated. While track detachment might seem like a simple problem, if not addressed in time, it can affect the overall performance of the equipment. I hope my experience helps those facing similar issues to keep their excavators in good condition and ensure efficient operations. If track detachment continues to be a problem, I recommend contacting a professional repair service for further inspection.
