I have been using the Komatsu PC200-8 for three years now, and recently completed a 6000-hour maintenance. Below is a brief summary of my experience with the machine over the past three years.
Since I took delivery of the new machine from the dealer, I have been the primary operator. The machine’s performance has been generally stable, but there were a few key issues during its operation.
Major Faults and Repairs
The biggest issue occurred around 3681 hours when three out of six fuel injectors failed. After inspecting the machine, we determined that the problem was caused by poor fuel quality. I replaced the entire set of injectors, with each one costing 5960 yuan. This repair highlights the profit margin of service stations. Although the repair was expensive, it was necessary as I needed the machine operational immediately, so I opted for a direct repair from the service station.
Current Status and Usage
As of now, the machine is in good condition overall. However, the arm and bucket hydraulic cylinders have become heavily stained with oil. Despite multiple visits from the dealer’s after-sales team, no solution has been provided for this issue yet. The hydraulic oil temperature remains within normal limits, and the machine has not suffered any collisions or other major damage. The hydraulic oil was changed at 4950 hours, with the service station advising that it should be replaced at 5000 hours. The filter and oil changes are carried out as scheduled, and all parts replaced are original factory parts.
While there have been no other major failures, I am still in discussions with the dealer regarding the hydraulic cylinder issue, hoping for a resolution.
Conclusion
Overall, the Komatsu PC200-8 has performed reliably over the past three years, with only minor issues that have been promptly addressed. By adhering to the manufacturer’s recommended maintenance intervals, the machine continues to perform at a high level. I will continue to work with the dealer to resolve the issues with the hydraulic cylinders, and I hope for a satisfactory solution soon.
In the future, I will continue to monitor the machine’s performance and report any new issues or discoveries as they arise.
