According to the data collected in the fourth week of August, the reporter of "Daily Economic News" found that a total of 14 listed companies have recently exposed environmental risks.

One-week Green Review: China Railway Construction Holding Company was fined

In addition to factors such as corporate management capabilities, financial status, and industry competition, environmental risks are becoming one of the important operating risks of listed companies. Environmental risks are related to corporate development and corporate image.

The data in this issue show that risk information such as violations of laws and regulations in the field of ecological environment is associated with 14 listed companies. Among them, 7 are state-owned enterprises.

The reporter of "Daily Economic News" found that there are 954,100 shareholders behind 14 listed companies, and the investment targets are on the environmental risk list, which may expose them to investment risks.

It is worth noting that China Railway Construction Holding Company China Railway Construction Bridge Engineering Bureau Group Second Engineering Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as China Railway Construction Second Engineering) was fined 1 million yuan by the People's Government of Yangshe Town, Zhangjiagang City, Suzhou City for dumping engineering mud many times.

The penalty letter with the document number "Zhangyang Comprehensive Execution Penalty Decision (2024) 20210010004" included in Credit China shows that "In April 2024, China Railway Construction Bridge Engineering Bureau Group Second Engineering Co., Ltd. repeatedly used mud trucks and other vehicles to illegally transport and dump about 3,400 cubic meters of engineering mud during construction." According to the relevant provisions of Article 63, paragraph 2 of the "Law of the People's Republic of China on the Prevention and Control of Environmental Pollution by Solid Wastes", China Railway Construction Second Engineering was fined 1 million yuan by the People's Government of Yangshe Town, Zhangjiagang City, Suzhou City.

In addition, the penalty book with the document number "沪0106环伐﹝2024﹞号13" included in Credit China shows that Shanghai Shangan Machinery Construction Co., Ltd., a holding company of Shanghai Construction Engineering (SH600170, stock price 2.06 yuan, market value 18.305 billion yuan), was fined 175,000 yuan and the illegal gains were confiscated by the Shanghai Jing'an District Ecological Environment Bureau in accordance with Article 112, Paragraph 1 of the "Law of the People's Republic of China on the Prevention and Control of Air Pollution" because the motor vehicle emission inspection agency failed to conduct inspections in accordance with the prescribed inspection methods and technical specifications and issued a false emission inspection report.

Environmental protection penalty: Senxuan Pharmaceutical Holdings was fined

In this period, Ningxia Senxuan Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Ningxia Senxuan), a holding company of Senxuan Pharmaceutical, was fined 900,000 yuan by the Shizuishan Municipal Ecological Environment Bureau for arbitrarily handing over wastewater to individuals without treatment qualifications and capabilities to dump it in a yard.

The penalty letter with the document number "Shipinghuanfa [2024] No. 19" disclosed on the official website of the Shizuishan Municipal Ecological Environment Bureau shows that on February 26, 2024, Ningxia Senxuan arbitrarily handed over the wastewater evaporated from two reactors in the production workshop to individuals without treatment qualifications and capabilities to dump it into the courtyard of the former Shitanjing No. 1 Middle School in Dawukou District. In accordance with Article 83 of the "Water Pollution Prevention and Control Law of the People's Republic of China", Ningxia Senxuan was fined 900,000 yuan by the Shizuishan Municipal Ecological Environment Bureau.

On August 21, a reporter from the "Daily Economic News" sent an interview letter through the public mailbox of Senxuan Pharmaceutical. From August 22 to 23, the reporter called the public telephone of Senxuan Pharmaceutical many times, but no one answered the phone. As of press time, the interview letter has not received a response.

In addition, China Coal Energy (SH601898, share price 12.96 yuan, market value 171.8 billion yuan) holding company Ordos Jintong Mining Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Jintong Mining) was fined about 460,400 yuan by the Ordos Municipal Ecological Environment Bureau for the expansion of the coal preparation plant project and failure to apply for approval in accordance with the law.

The penalty letter with the document number "Ehuanfa [2024] No. 1-21" included in Credit China shows that "the 1.2 million tons/year supporting coal preparation plant project was expanded to 3 million tons/year. The expanded coal preparation plant and production and living auxiliary facilities construction project did not apply for environmental impact assessment documents in accordance with the law. It started construction on April 12, 2023 without authorization. Now it has been completed and equipment commissioning has been carried out." According to Article 31, Paragraph 1 of the "Environmental Impact Assessment Law of the People's Republic of China", Jintong Mining was fined about 460,400 yuan by the Ordos Municipal Ecological Environment Bureau.
