Yuchai YC60-8 Excavator User Report - MikePhua - 06-25-2025 This article is part of our "User Interviews" series, where we interview real users of popular excavator models to provide valuable insights for prospective buyers. All information comes from actual user experiences, as the performance of the machine is closely related to the working conditions and operator habits. Therefore, the content in the interviews may not represent all the features of the model. The first user we interviewed is Mr. Wang, a contractor from Henan, who frequently works in Beijing. He is a friend of a member of an online engineering machinery platform, and he purchased the Yuchai YC60-8 excavator. The machine is primarily stationed in the Chaoyang District of Beijing. Basic Information The Yuchai YC60-8 is one of the best-selling models in Yuchai Heavy Industry's excavator lineup. It is an upgraded version of the popular YC60-7, which is widely recognized by Chinese users. The YC60-8 has applied for 12 patents and has won multiple awards, including the "Guangxi Science and Technology Progress Award" and the "Third Prize of China Machinery Industry Science and Technology Award." According to industry data, it was the top-selling excavator in its category from January to May 2010. Key Specifications:
Mr. Wang purchased the YC60-8 excavator in March 2010 in Beijing for a price of 330,000 CNY, paid in full. He chose this model because several of his fellow workers in the area were using Yuchai excavators, and they spoke highly of the machine's performance. Additionally, the price was lower than that of imported brands, making it an attractive option. Operating Conditions This excavator is mainly used for trenching work in municipal projects, telecommunications, and other construction activities. It also handles some loading and leveling work. However, Mr. Wang did not opt for the optional breaker line, so the machine does not have a breaker installed. Fuel Consumption For trenching operations, the average fuel consumption is about 170-180 CNY per shift. According to the operator, Xiao Li, this fuel consumption is considered average for excavators in the same class working together. Overall Performance Both Mr. Wang and operator Xiao Li have been generally satisfied with the performance of the YC60-8, especially considering that it has only been in operation for about 300 hours. The excavator’s digging power and speed are superior compared to other domestic brands working in the same area. Drawbacks Although the YC60-8 performs well overall, operator Xiao Li noted a few shortcomings in terms of user comfort and design details:
Mr. Wang expressed clear dissatisfaction with the after-sales service provided by the Yuchai dealer in Beijing. In the first month of ownership, the excavator experienced a problem where the boom cylinder would naturally lower itself. When Mr. Wang contacted the dealer’s after-sales service, they initially claimed this was a "normal phenomenon." This upset Mr. Wang, and he threatened to block the dealer’s door with the excavator if the issue wasn’t resolved. After hearing this, the dealer quickly changed their stance and acknowledged that the issue was a fault and agreed to fix it. Conclusion Overall, Mr. Wang is satisfied with the Yuchai YC60-8 excavator’s performance, especially in terms of its digging power and efficiency. However, he expressed concerns about the machine’s comfort, particularly regarding the cab space, sealing, and air conditioning performance. He also suggested that the after-sales service could be more responsive and attentive to customer needs. Mr. Wang believes that if the design and manufacturing quality of domestic excavators could match that of foreign brands, he would definitely choose domestic machinery for his future purchases. This user report highlights the strengths and weaknesses of the Yuchai YC60-8 excavator based on actual field usage. It provides valuable information for other potential buyers considering this model, especially in terms of practical performance and areas for improvement. |
